You never expect the call

No one expects the call, “your son has a mass on the brain”, so when the call comes, regardless everything else is going to the back burner.  You and your wife, grab the basics, lock the door and 800 miles later you are there.  Full of questions, anxiety, fears and faith.  You’ve run through all the worst case scenarios, and resigning yourself that regardless “you can handle it”, that said, you lock those thoughts away, they have no place in the present – now properly sorted.

Next is filtering through all the Doctor details, logistics, family updates, and remembering you are both here to support your son and his wife during this challenge.  Not to take over, but to provide support, emotional and mental, to be the voice in the background helping keep the focus on important, not the drama.

I know there are MANY challenges ahead.  I am reminded that it is a combination of God’s will, the surgeons skill, and my son’s positive energy and love for his wife and life that will win the day.

I am extremely proud of all of my sons and the men they continue to become.  And twenty years from now oh the discussions we will have about how quickly he recovered.

UPDATE 27 April 2019

Blessed and highly favored.  His recovery was nothing short of a miricle.  Home four days after surgery.  Medical professionals, supportive wife and family took great care of him.  He was back to full speed in an amazing short period of time….

Words

WORDS

Words are powerful; words (like any tool) can do great things or they can destroy what we hold so precious.
And as with money, influence, guns or a loud voice in the public forum -depending on who welds them for good, evil or agenda either side.

Admittedly, I am no orator, nor master of language. I am a simple man witnessing the constant assault on common sense and liberty. People banter around terms like.. Fascist, Racist, Sexist (usually without an intelligent balance in the exchange) primarily to discredit or intimidate a person that will not cow-toe to the power of the political left. Yes I am over 50, English speaking and a happily married man. Any of those are used often to discredit me or those with similar views as my own. But today, lets talk about WORDs and speech. Allow me to vent a bit,

Just a few years back, one would see the definition of the word “Fascism” as follows….

dictionary.com/browse/fascism *
(sometimes initial capital letter) a governmental system led by a dictator having complete power, forcibly suppressing opposition and criticism, regimenting all industry, commerce, etc., and emphasizing an aggressive nationalism and often racism.

Now in the Politically correct, Left leaning, war on words and modern culture, defined as …

en.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/fascism *
An authoritarian and nationalistic right-wing system of government and social organization.
1.1 (in general use) extreme authoritarian, oppressive, or intolerant views or practices.
‘this is yet another example of health fascism in action’

– Left OR Right – Fascism is Fascism –
Words are powerful; words (like any tool) can do great things or they can destroy what we hold so precious. As with money, influence, guns, voice in the public forum, depending on who welds them, Good or Evil can prevail.

If you don’t see this happening every day, I invite you to consider this…
Just a few years ago as our country began slaughtering millions of unborn children “PRIMARILY” to reduce accountability (on men and women) or provide “lifestyle” choices – the lines were split as
“Pro Abortion” & “Anti Abortion”,
today its seen as
– “Pro-Choice or Abortion-rights movement”
– “Pro-Life or rigth-to-life”
See how it all gets twisted up and we loose sight of the real issues… death.

The “Gun Control” Debate

“Gun Control” and “Property Rights” are a twisted perversion of the LEFT and the PC crowd.
To quote the “Great One” Mark Levin, “Property does not have rights, people have the rights to property” those rights to property are gained by exchange of services, wealth acquired, (or willed to us by family) and the legal purchase of property there of. So my property does not have rights, it is mine, then if I use reasonable care in the use of my property its none of your business or concern.
GUN Control: I have control of my weapons, they do not have control over me, they are an object and as long as I do not abuse this item again, no ones business but mine. If I use my weapon to cause harm or intent to cause harm the laws are already in place to address this. (And NO WE DO NOT NEED ADDITIONAL LAWS, If you must, enforce the ones we have, with the 2nd Amendment being your first review).
What we have in this country is NOT a GUN Problem, (I know it hurts some of your “feelings” to be countered that way – but Cowboy Up), step beyond the mentally challenged – obviously that issue deserves our compassion and like “widows and orphans” we as a culture need to attend to those needs. What we have again is not a GUN issue, it is a lack of value for the “sanctity of life” and the break down that follows this. With no moral fiber and personal responsibility it is easy for us to blame and whore out our opinions to further agendas. When someone purposefully rams a car through a crowd of people hoping to inflict as much damage as possible, we never look at the manufacture or the accessories on the car to blame the manufacture for the assault, its the person plain and simple. When a person assaults another with a knife – you don’t boycott #knifemakersguild – you dig in an prosecute the person. So when someone does and illegal act with a fire arm, HOW DARE YOU WORK TO INFRINGE MY LIBERTIES. I don’t come after your Prius when someone runs someone over. And let me be 100% clear, my heart goes out to any and all impacted by violence committed by someone with a weapon (or without), but when you have an environment where Teachers, Administrators & Students are not allowed to protect themselves, and you believe a “Gun Free Zone” sign will keep the evil people out, you need to shoulder some of the responsibility.
Columbine – the first knee jerk response given with the above argument, well Darrell “Columbine proves that putting armed guards in schools just doesn’t work”, again – false. You want a clear understanding of that event, I invite you to start on page 98-100 of the book “Control – Exposing the Truth about Guns” – GB. You will likely be amazed at again how you have been spoon fed your coolaid dose of the lefts agenda.

Before you decide to “Fix the world” – “Clean up your own bedroom”

Reflections…

Winter Guest

As my birthday approaches: I find myself doing busy work around the home. Catching up on projects, reflecting, but also that numb moment. I say numb because it’s as if time pauses, nothing is wrong, nothing specific on the mind, it’s as though I pause the audio track that normally runs thru my brain and forget whats going on.
I have so many amazing things happening in life, I have an amazing wife whom I adore, reasonably good health – considering, family, friends, business partners, organizations and more.
Think what I am lacking primarily is focus, it’s time for our next adventure… I see travel in the near future….
More to come…

Houston Natural History Museum

Having lived in the DC metropolitan area I’m no novice to museums.. But there’s something about coming in the fall, after the children have gone back to school, the family vacations are over, and on a Tuesday morning walking around rooms where in the past 300 people were crammed in and today only a handful of people pass me in the dark.
We just left the Egyptian exhibit and I must say standing there in the quiet among the dozen sarcophagus is an amazing snapshot of time.
As you proceed into the Aztec chamber wonderful music plays, the recorded sounds of birds,  a little closer to home but yet still so far away.  I also think I can sit here peacefully all day.
